Spell & Bound at the SDA Market in south Delhi opened in May 2011. The bookshop and café houses 17,000 books and serves kathi kebabs and flavoured milkshakes. The ground level has subtle lighting, floor-to-ceiling shelves, a rotating bookcase, a wall covered with framed photos of authors like Anton Chekhov, Salman Rushdie, Virginia Woolf, Arundhati Roy, Jhumpa Lahiri and a spiral staircase that goes up to a café and down to a basement with more books. The elegance of the retial store is enhanced with its woodden flooring.
Having an extensive book collection, the categories include history, non-fiction, business, management, biographies, cookery, health, music, religion, philosophy, classics, crime & thrillers, jewelery, lifestyle, architecture, interior, arts, textile and Indian cinema. The kids collection comprises of teen fiction, young fiction, children's encyclopaedia; also are available lady bird series, colouring books, storybooks, sound books, activity books and sticker books for kids in the age group of 0-2 years, 3-4 years and 5-6 years. One can find Flag charts too in the kids section. A corner shelf has movie DVDs. The basement’s centrepiece is a toy steam engine stacked with books and games for children, who have a separate section with a yellow plastic table and four chairs in yellow, red, blue and green.
