The Dronacharya Cricket Foundation

The Dronacharya Cricket Foundation was inaugurated on the 11th June 2000. The inauguration was graced with the presence of galaxy of past and present Test Cricketers and Ranji trophy players. Principals of the Leading Cricket loving schools and colleges of Delhi, Industrialists associated with the Academy and the two clubs fed by the Dronacharya Cricket Foundation were present in full support. We thank the presence of the Delhi Development Authority officials who have been very kind in establishing the Dronacharya Cricket Foundation at the Yamuna Sports Complex. Their forthrightness and the keen interest of Mr. Gurcharan Singh Dronacharya Awardee for Cricket and Mr. Maninder Singh Former Test Cricketer now turned successful commentator brought the urgent need of a Cricket academy in east of Delhi.

Mr. Gurcharan Singh decided from the beginning that the foundation would not be a monetary motivated institute. Instead with its profits, it will provide the youngsters the best of ground facilities, best of the equipment and best possible coaches available in Delhi. For the kind information of the members of the Mauritius Sports Ministry and other dignitaries, the Dronacharya Cricket Foundation boasts of 5 excellent turf pitches and 2Astro-turf pitches and 1cement pitch in excellent condition. The Foundation has a power driven pitch roller, a rarity in many such Academies. The strength of the foundation currently is 120 boys in four different age groups on different weekdays.

For coaches in the Foundation, boys have the expertise of Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Dronacharya Awardee for cricket and former National Cricket Coach, former test cricketer, Mr. Pradeep Jain, first class cricketer of repute from Haryana and many NIS qualified as well as known Cricketers.

The foundation selects young boys out of those turned up for the summer coaching camp in the age group between 8 to 18 years. The Academy also admitted few boys who have played Ranji Trophy and above and players representing National or Junior National level age group cricket. Dronacharya Cricket foundation has the distinction of accommodating talented boys by giving them benefits and concessions while admitting them for coaching.
