Mumbai Cricket Association formerly known as Bombay Cricket Association was established in 1930 and is the governing body for cricket in Mumbai, Greater Mumbai and Thane districts. The jurisdiction of MCA includes the area up to Dahanu in the Western Suburbs, Badlapur in the Central Suburbs, and Navi Mumbai up to Kharghar.MCA is a permanent member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and houses the Headquarters of the BCCI in Cricket Centre within the Wankhede Stadium premises.Mumbai Cricket Association has dominated the Ranji Trophy Championship, the National Championship conducted by the BCCI since 1934. MCA has won the Ranji Trophy 39 times and was runner-up on four occasions. MCA won the Ranji Trophy 15 years in a row which in itself is a world record. Of late our performances have not been consistent.The Association has taken upon the task of building new infrastructures in the far off suburbs. MCA has developed the MCA Recreation Centre at the Bandra Kurla Complex which houses one of the best Indoor Cricket School in the world. This complex also includes a full fledged cricket ground where Ranji Trophy matches are played. MCA is also coming up with the Recreation Centre at Kandivali, the Western suburbs of Mumbai which should be operational in the next six to eight months.MCA undertook redevelopment of Wankhede Stadium in preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup and the stadium was completed in time to stage the world cup matches and the venue entered the world cup history books as this was the first time in 10 world cups that the host country won the championship.Mr. Ravi Savant is the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association.A state-of-the-art indoor cricket facility was inaugurated on 14th December 2007 at Bandra-Kurla Complex at Mumbai Cricket Association Indoor Cricket Academy by MCA President Sharad Pawar.The facility, which can have controlled temperature ranging from 14 degree centigrade to 40 degree centigrade, has seven indoor nets.Easily one of the best in the world, the indoor facility on a 13-acre Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), is equipped with seven pitches, bowling machines, gymnasium and other facilities needed for a cricketer to enhance his skill.This state-of-art indoor cricket stadium has seven retractable nets equipped with video cameras at both the bowlers and batsmen end to conduct minute study of their flaws. The Academy also boasts of temperature and humidity controlled environment under simulated climatic conditions, prevalent among the major cricket playing countries.The wide ranging world class facilities at the indoor stadium extend from the viewing gallery for coaches, a dedicated gymnasium and changing rooms for players, fully equipped medicine, physical and endurance training facilities, flood-lit night training facilities, other facilities ranging from physiotherapy dietary consultancy services, yoga and mediation centres all aimed at raising world class cricketers.
