How mycity4kids favourites works?

It works very much like asking other parents in school or the building about a good place that they've experienced for their kids. At mycity4kids, we do much the same except that we use the combined wisdom of all the parents out there (some of whom you might know but the very many you don't), to help you discover places that you may have otherwise never stumbled upon. More specifically however, this is how it works :

You as a choosy parent have a handful of favourite places that you feel good about sending or taking your child to, as well as recommending to other parents. While you love those places, you probably don't like the feeling of being left with few options to choose from, while at other times you HAVE to DISCOVER a new place - be it for an art class or for tennis coaching. And preferably one that come with the added comfort of some parental recommendation. Discovering these new fantastic places is really what this is all about.

To get started, you need to register at mycity4kids account and tell us about all your favourite places by answering some questions. This creates a list of mycity4kids Favourites. As such, your mycity4kids list of favourites is compared to the lists of all the other users in and around your locality. When someone has a few favourites in common with you, magic happens!!! mycity4kids will then take all the people that are similar to you with regard to their OWN favourite places, and run our proprietary analytics engine across all the profiles.

When your favourites overlap with a few other parents, it stands to reason that those people, strangers as they may be, are similar to you with regard to what kinds of places they like. Knowing this, mycity4kids lets you take a look at their OTHER favourites which in effect, acts like a recommendation for you.

As we get more parents listing their favourites, we will begin to show you recommendations for new places to try. And if you get a recommendation you like, you can add it to your favourites. This again enables you to see the other favourites of the parents you share the newly added one with.

And while this cycle continues, our analytics engine keeps chugging away to produce better recommendations for you. How do I Favourite a business ?
Just register yourself at mycity4kids.com and you're good to go. Sign-in (using your mycity4kids or facebook login id) and you can start marking your favourite businesses by doing any of the following :

a)Entering your favourite places every time you are asked a question on the home page or a category page (eg. Hobbies, Sports) or on your profile page

b) Adding to your list of favourites on the home page or on your profile page
c) Going to a business and adding it to your favourites

What are the benefits of Favouriting a business for me ?
The short answer - Discover fantastic new places for your child, around your home and in your city.Now that's incentive enough, isn't it ?

How does favourites work for me ?
mycity4kids users share their favourite local businesses by answering questions, searching and browsing recommendations. We use these favourites to find other mycity4kids parents who have the same favourite places as you, and because they know what they like, they kind of know what you like. So you get to discover new places by looking at their favourite places which you DON'T have in common.

As the mycity4kids community grows, and more people share their favourites, the mycity4kids analytics engine gets even smarter, leading to better and better recommendations for you.

Can I un-favourite a business?
Yes you can. Sign-in using your mycity4kids or facebook id, go to your personal profile where you can un-favourite a business.

Who can see me and my reviews ?
Visitors to mycity4kids can see your first name and last initial (eg. Meghna R), and can read your reviews. Only registered mycity4kids users may share your reviews on facebook.

What if I skip a question ?
We'd rather you didn't because really, the more you SHARE, the more you DISCOVER!!! We would understand though, if your little one was no longer little and you were asked about your favourite daycare

What if I can't find my Favourite business ?
We would never want your favourite place to be a well-kept secret and not be a part of your favourites list on mycity4kids. We would much rather that you share it with all and sundry. To solve that, we have created a process whereby, all you have to do is share the name of the place and the locality or telephone number and we will list it on our site within 2 working days:

Will my list of Favourites be visible to other people ? Will my contact details be visible too ?
Your list of favourites will be visible only to other registered mycity4kids members. While your contact numbers will not be displayed, your locality, city and mail id will be displayed. This allows other parents to get in touch with you in a non-intrusive way, should they wish to seek your guidance on a particular place.

Will my contact details be shared with my favourite businesses ?
Your mail id will be shared with your favourite businesses. This enables you to stay abreast with the latest happenings at the places you most love.

Can I see the Favourites list of other parents ?
In much the same way that other registered mycity4kids parents can see your list of Favourites, you can see the list of other parents as well.

How can I share my list of Favourites with friends ?
We love this one because the more we SHARE, the more we all DISCOVER. You can share your list or even one from your list in one of two ways :
a) Invite your friends to register on mycity4kids.com
b) Share it through facebook
