AN ABA/VB INTENSIVE SCHOOL PROGRAMThis is an ABA based school program for children ages 3-10 years. We provide an individualized, comprehensive, and intensive educational program for each of our students under the guidance of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).The Salient Features of the School Program are: Teaching practices are based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis--shaping behavior through reinforcement of successive approximations, prompting and fading procedures, and use of positive reinforcement. Naturalistic incidental teaching and discrete trials will both be used during the course of instruction. Peer social interaction, as well as group instruction will be systematically introduced with the goal of increasing children's ability to participate in regular classroom setting.Our program is progressively structured (Steps 1-4), whereby the children are grouped according to their levels of functioning and their skills are scaffolded to reach the next Step. As our ultimate objective is the child's independence and inclusion in regular school setting, we strive to teach the skills and provide the supports required to achieve it.
CENTER BASED EARLY INTERVENTION FOR CHILDREN OF AGE 18 MONTHS – 3 YEARSParents are the first and forever teacher to their children; therefore it is important that parents learn specific strategies needed to handle their own kids. Initial parent training would be provided, assessment of the children conducted after which IEP will be drawn for each student.
READING INTERVENTION FOR CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIESReading is comprised of sight word recognition, decoding phonetically, and getting meaning from the text one reads. Children with learning challenges may have trouble with one or more of these. At Stepping Stones, we provide a structured approach combined with multisensory techniques to guide the children in learning reading quickly. An assessment is conducted to place children in appropriate small groups for guided reading, where they can apply specific decoding and sight word strategies to develop comprehension skills. Spelling is worked on at the same time. These groups are conducted after school hours once or twice per week, depending on the needs of each child
