Judging Criteria

Doodles will be judged based on the following three criteria:

Artistic Merit - Drawing skills and use of color.

Creativity and originality - Considering the representation of the Contest theme “If I could teach anyone anything, it would be…”, and use of the Google logo, as well as the unique and novel approach to the Doodle.

Theme Communication - How clearly the competition theme is expressed in both the artwork and the written statement.


1. Doodles will be disqualified if copyrighted or trademarked images and logos are used. Examples of this would be the Nike “swoosh” or popular characters from shows, movies and books.

2. Only one application per student or learner please. If more than one is submitted only the first will be considered and those thereafter will be disqualified.


Google has officially opened up its annual Google Doodle contest open to kids from Class 1 to Class 10, which culminates the Doodle being displayed on the Google India homepage on November 14th i.e. Children's Day! Here’s all you need to know about this fun yet prestigious competition:-

What is the Google Doodle?

Google Doodle is a decorative Google logo which celebrates holidays, historical events and iconic figures from all over the world. The doodle is a fun way to recognize some of the notably figures and events and it also shows the creativity of the teamwork at Google itself.

"If I could teach anyone anything, it would be..."

A child’s imagination and creativity holds the power to build our future. This year, Google invites kids across India to share with the world what they imagine will make an impact for the better.

Who can participate?

The competition is based on the student's class. Kids in the following class groups are eligible to participate:

Class 1 - 3

Class 4 - 6

Class 7 - 10

How to Submit?

Applications can be submitted by parents, guardians, teachers and after-school programs. All applications must be accompanied by a completed official entry form signed by the student’s parent or guardian. Incomplete and/or unsigned forms will result in disqualification. Only one application per student please. If more than one is submitted the first received will be considered and the rest disqualified. There is no limit to the amount of applications a classroom or school can submit as long as each one is from a different student.

Entries can be submitted in 2 ways

Via online: Please scan the completed official entry form. Visit submit tab of our website, fill all the required fields with correct information, upload the entry form and submit.

Via mail: To submit an entry in hard-copy form, the entry must be mailed in an envelope (packaged carefully so it won’t be damaged) with proper postage affixed, to the following mailing address:

This mail should reach the destination on or before 21st October 2016. Late entries will be disqualified.


October 21st Closing date for entries to be received

November 1st 12 finalists are announced and the public voting starts

November 10th Public vote ends

November 14th Winning animated Doodle displayed in the Google India homepage


All 12 finalists (four from each age group) will receive:

Invitation to the award ceremony

Certificate of achievement

A Chromebook laptop

Doodle will be publicly displayed in a gallery on the website

National winner will receive:

Medal/Trophy awarded by Google

Invitation to the award ceremony

National Winner's Google Doodle will be displayed on the Google India homepage on 14th November 2016

The esteemed panel of judges includes Ryan Germick, who’s the Team Lead for Doodle from Google, Rob, the art and craft wizard from TV, popular cartoonist Ajit Ninnan and Savio Mascarenhas, the Art Director Children's Publishing at ACK Media.
