Sanskruti Nritya kala Mandir
Rupali Desai was initiated into Kathak by her art-loving family. She has undergone rigourous training in Kathak for 23 years under the able tutelage of Smt.Manjiri Deo, disciple of the Late Nataraj Gopi Krishna.
Rupali obtained the degree of ‘Visharad’ and later secured the ‘Nrityalankar’ with first class from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She is also the Recipient of the title ‘Shringarmani’ conferred on her by the Sur Singar Samsad. She also has an impressive academic record. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts and an L.L.B. from the University of Mumbai.
As a danseuse who strives for precision and perfection in her art, Rupali is on the constant lookout for opportunities to improvise on her skills. She also continues to undertake meticulous training for ‘Layakari’ from Famous Tabla player Talmani Shri.Mukundraj Deo.
Rupali’s versatality is evident from her success as an actress on stage, T.V. and in films. Some of her plays include ‘Uncha Maza Zoka Ga’ (for which in 1997 she was awarded the title of ‘Best Actress’ by Natya darpan.) ‘Shri tashi Sau’, ‘Zaala Ek Da Cha’ and ‘Asech Amhi Sare’. She has to her credit roles in many popular television serials like ‘Bandini’, ‘Janma bandha’, ‘Tharar’, ‘Runanubandha’ and ‘Niragas’. She has also played the anchor for Sakhi’ and the Marathi Antakshari programme ‘Tak Dhina Dhin’. She has also acted in movies and T.V. commercials. In spite of her achievements in multiple areas, Rupali has remained a committed student of classical dance. .
Every year, Rupali and her students perform two programs all over India. “Kadambachya Zadakhali” is the beautiful narration of the eternal love of Radha-Krishna and “Shata Janma Shodhitana” is the visual representation of the poems by Shri. Vinayak Damodar Savakar!!! She and her students have done the choreography for “Halla Gulla Rasgulla”- an album by renowned singers Smt. Vaishali Samant and Shri. Avadhoot Gupte and for “ Aathva Swar” by the participants of one of the most popular TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa!!!
While making her mark through her performances and choreography on television and in live performances, Rupali has passionately focussed on the development of each of her 200 students at the Sanskriti Nritya Kala Mandir.
