Once upon a time when I was your daughter

Once upon a time when I was your daughter..

Are you really stressed as how come it be once upon a time. We are always our parents children no matter what, no matter how old we are, no matter where we are settled, no matter what we are doing. I used to feel pretty much the same when I was a kid and even till a few months ago.  Having a child made me realize so many things about people. People are not what you think they are ,it also put some light on expectation vs reality kind of situation. I didn't know India is still a developing country until recently. When I read in the paper about female infanticide, I didn't think about the intensity of the problem. I just thought it must be some uneducated labourer or somebody who just didn't know what their daughters could achieve on par with their sons. I just didn't care much apart from feeling a bit sad

I just didn't care much apart from feeling a bit sad upon their lack of wisdom.  Until one day the truth came slashing at me

Until one day the truth came slashing at me like a sword which ripped me apart into a number of tiny pieces which could never be put together. Until that day I was a carefree girl with her own set of interests and life of her own. That day when I got married I never cried during bidai thinking it was just a formality. I think I was too immature to not cry then. Looking back I was marrying the only love of my life and there is no reason to feel sad.  But now I finally got the truth that from that point I was no longer their darling daughter whom they once loved and celebrated every victory of her life ,patting her for the job well done or just being there when

But now I finally got the truth that from that point I was no longer their darling daughter whom they once loved and celebrated every victory of her life ,patting her for the job well done or just being there when its really needed. Now she is married off and no longer their responsibility and whether she is happy or sad doesn't matter to them. They have given up on her that day. She can only be treated as a guest and her home is no longer hers. It becomes her mom's place only. Even when she needs them she can no longer request them to be with her ,coz she is no longer their daughter. If she was born a boy they could have stayed. Poor thing she is born a girl. What can anyone do to it. It is her karma and she should serve her sentence for it.  I was stunned seeing in news that the father of PV Sindhu applied for an

I was stunned seeing in news that the father of PV Sindhu applied for an 8-month leave to get her prepared for the tournament. There are people like this too in stark contrast. Unfortunately, there are people who don't believe in their own daughter. They want a guarantee and warranty with everything. But they are supposed to be her guarantee when she is down or when she feels incapacitated. All she needs is perhaps your love and a little encouragement. If you don't believe in her who will. Miracles do happen but not without effort and what you sow is what you reap. If you want to have a good harvest sow your seeds properly and bestow your love. Without knowing all that don't just say that girl is smart, no she is having a better platform a better support and she gets better too. Start believing in your daughter.

P.S. This is a work of fiction, all characters are imaginary
