7 Children's Day Special Events in Delhi-NCR

It seems the city never sits still and here’s more proof for that - a packed calendar on the occasion of Children’s day. Take a look at our pick of the most interesting events around town and decide whether you want to watch award winning movies at the National Children’s Film Festival or make a mosaic mural, have fun at HangOut or explore your creative potential at Bal Bhawan, attend a musical concert, a carnival or a storytelling session. National Children’s Film Festival, Carnival and Workshops

Location: Siri Fort Auditorium, August Kranti Marg

This must certainly be the best news of the week - the Children's Film Society of India has launched the first edition of a National Children's Film Festival, which will subsequently be held in November every alternate year, taking turns with the International Children’s Film Festival.  The 3-day festival has several critically acclaimed and award winning films in its line-up.  The curtain-raiser is slated to be Seemaa Desai's 'Pappu Ki Pugdandi' and other films to be screened include Shortcut Safari, The Goal, CFSI-produced Kummatti, Mahek Mirza, Krish Trish And Baltiboy 3 and Ek Ajooba.  Among the award winning films are 'Gattu' and 'Goopi Gawaiiya Bagha Bajaiyya' that were screened at film festivals in Berlin and Toronto respectively; and 'Kaphal' - a National Award under The Best Children's Film category.

As part of a children’s carnival, several other activities for children are planned on November 14 from 2 pm to 5 pm and on November 15 and 16 all day from 9 am to 5 pm. These include a Pledge wall, sessions on waste management, jigsaw puzzle, pottery etc. Different entertainers such as tattoo artists face painters, jugglers and tall walkers have also been engaged.

Children can also participate in a series of workshops being conducted by experts in the fields of Dastangoi, mime, animation, film making, magic, understanding film making with respect to Script Writing, Direction, Cinematography and other aspects.

Arty Funanza at the Heritage Transport Museum

Location: Taoru village, Gurgaon
Date: 14th to 16th November 2014
Age Group: 5 and above

The Heritage Transport Musuem is celebrating Children’s Day over three days with a most unusual craft - making mosaic murals on the transportation theme using colourful materials.  Parents can also be a part of this activity along with their kids. All materials are provided free of cost and the murals can be taken home as souvenirs by paying a nominal charge of Rs 500. 

Entry to the Museum is Rs 300 per adult and Rs 150 per child

Hangout Children's Day Special at Saket

Locality: Saket and DLF Phase 1

Hangout’s Kids Carnival, spread over 3 days, has a special surprise in store for kids - Chhota Bheem & his friends. Children can meet their favourite characters and get photographs clicked with them at both Saket & Gurgaon Hang Out locations. In addition to many games & rides, indoor playareas, toddler zones, virtual rides, there will be goodie bags with Chhota Bheem merchandise, Chhota Bheem painting competition and many other craft activities. And as with all special occasions at HangOut, the mascot Monku & his gang will make special appearances and perform for the children.
