Get Your Spook On To Celebrate Halloween In Hyderabad!

The concept of Halloween is fast becoming a catchy routine in India. No one enjoys this fun festival of dressing up in their scariest best more than our kids, right from toddlers to teenagers.

This festival is all about unleashing the creativity of our kids and letting their imaginations run wild , and what better way to celebrate the day than with a fun Halloween theme party that has a frightening feast and ghoulish games that will have your kids and guests screaming with delight.

Here are a few tips and resources to give your favourite little horrors a Halloween party like no other wherein they are sure to be shrieking with excitement!

1)      Invitations

First things first, decide whom to invite to the party and then send out the invitations. Sending a homemade invitation makes all the difference and creates a great first impression for the festivities. Here are some ideas:

· Cut out orange pumpkin shapes, let the kids decorate the front with pumpkin faces and write in the details of the party on the backside

· Draw a large skeleton on white paper. Cut out the bones. Write the party details on the bone pieces and send one to each guest. Ask the guests to bring the bone invitations with them to the party. Reassemble the skeleton by the door as they walk in.

2)      Decorations

Be sure to dress up your home for the occasion! Use a little creativity to dress up your existing home decor to have the Halloween flair, or take advantage of the fun, affordable Halloween decorations available at this time of year at craft and costume stores and party stores across the city, like these:-

3)      Spooktacular Costumes !

4)      Games and Activities

Here’s our quick guide to making traditional party games that you and your kids love Halloween worthy by giving them a new twist or edge to go with the spooky party theme:-

- Pin the Stem on the Pumpkin – The Halloween version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey, this simply needs a large pumpkin cut out out of oversized orange chart paper. Cut stems out of green chart paper and write each child's name on the back so you know who's closest. Use a dupatta or scarf as a blindfold, turn each child around 3 times and let them at the pumpkin. Whoever sticks the stem closest to the correct spot wins a prize.

- Mask Making – For this fun craft activity, buy some white paper plates and cut eyes out of the centre of the plate. Make sure you measure with your own child so the eye holes are in the right place for a small face. Let the kids decorate the paper plate masks with crayons, markers, glitter, feathers, jewels, foam sticky shapes, etc. Once they are done, you can put string or elastic around the back to hold the mask on.

- Ghosts on the Floor - This is a variation of musical chairs. Draw or print out pictures of friendly ghosts on regular paper. Place the papers randomly on the floor. Use 1 less paper than number of kids playing the game. Start some Halloween music and when you stop the music, whoever isn't standing on a ghost steps aside and the game continues.

5)      Party Food and Sweet Treats

There are so many ways that you can take ordinary food like pizza and sandwiches and give it a special Halloween touch to delight the kids. Chocolate chips available easily can be used all food easily to create faces for a creepy feel!

Sandwiches can be cut into ghost shapes, a small piece of cucumber acting as a stem of a peeled orange makes it look like a pumpkin, juice tetra paks can be covered with white paper and have stick on eyes to get the spook on, and a range of cookies, cupcakes and cakes can be ordered from the following bakeries who specialize in customizing their holiday treats for Halloween:-
