Most private clubs organize swimming camps for kids during the vacations. If you are not a club member or if you want to know about classes that are more regular than just the holiday batches, here’s the list of popular options for you:
Mickey Mehta’s 360 Swim Training courses are held at this club’s pool through the year. A few lanes of the pool are reserved for the training. There is a basic 21 days package which can then be followed up with a technique perfection short duration course. For children under 5 years of age, they also have a small pool attached to their gym in the same locality as Acres Club. This no chlorine pool is very shallow and while not indoors does have a roof over it.
This professional sports and fitness development and training organisation organises swimming camps at various centres in Mumbai. In addition to running summer swimming camps at schools they also conduct regular classes through the year. At the Ajmera I Land Sports Academy at Wadala they conduct swimming classes using the Michael Phelps curriculum.

The international program is now in Mumbai and offers the exact method that was used to teach Phelps. It is a structured Learn 2 Swim Program. There are various core levels available that include Get Wet for 6 months to 3 years; Pre Beginner which is the first course without parental involvement starting at 3 years but has two age divisions to include 5+ years as well; Beginner for children who are comfortable in the water starting at age 4 years and also featuring two age divisions to include students 6+ years; the advanced beginner that hones in on skills and starts teaching strokes for 4 years to 6 years and another division for 7+ years; and the Intermediate level which is for students 6+ years who can swim for a distance unaided. Courses are conducted at various locations across the city.
The Body Rhythm club offers swimming classes for children at an outdoor swimming pool. The 21 day course needs to be completed within a span of two months. There is generally one instructor to five students.
YMCA offers swimming classes at two pools. One pool is at the Procter Branch at Agripada and the other is Navi Mumbai Branch at Belapur CBD. The rates and course details for the centres are unique to the centres. So for example, at the Navi Mumbai pool a new course starts on the 30th of June for which registrations will happen on the 27th of June. You need to be there at 7am with a doctor’s certificate saying your child is fit to swim and two passport sized photographs. On paying the fees your child (5+ years) will receive an identity card and can start the 15 day class. There are generally 20 students per batch. They conduct beginner classes as well as competitive coaching through the year. Should you want your child to just have a pool to swim at regularly, you can also consider the option of a yearly plan. While most folks believe that swimming classes here are only for children of members, the fact is that non members can also be a part of the 12 day swimming coaching. Batches get full really fast so you need to check with their swimming admissions department about availability. Call 25274105.
