It’s that time of the year again where everyone tries to put their best Christmas decorations forward - Christmas trees, Santa Claus, bells, reindeers and snowflakes, fake though they may be. As the whole city takes on the brilliant hues of the traditional Christmas colours of red, white and green, it is impossible not get sucked into the excitement in the air and be awestruck at the various displays around town.
With the weather finally feeling a little bit like winter, it is a great chance to cozy up, take advantage of all the yummy treats around and head to these Christmas displays in the city, all of which showcase the enthusiasm with which this festival is celebrated here.
1) Christmas Tree made of Plastic Chairs at Ofen, Road No.10, Banjara Hills
This is the most unique Christmas tree in the city, and is in the news for all the right reasons. If you are bored of the usual decorations, then you need to head to Ofen, a confectionery store in Banjara Hills. The tree they have on display is completely made up of colourful plastic chairs. Inviting people to their store with this intelligent idea, they further tempt the customer with the irresistable aroma of fresh baking and the gorgeous display of gingerbread houses, Christmas cookies, etc.
2) Christmas Display of Santa and his reindeers at Chennai Shopping Mall, Secunderabad
In a mall which is known more for its bling factor than anything else, this beautiful display of Santa riding his chariot pulled by the reindeers is an eye catching delight as you drive across the always crowded S.D.Road in Secunderabad.
3) Christmas Decoration at the entry to Shoppers Stop, Street No.3, Begumpet
As you drive across the Begumpet road, the colourful candy cane red and white decoration of the Shoppers Stop main entry takes you by surprise, as does the large display window, which features a lady dressed in a golden dress decorated with Christmas baubles, Santa’s Elves, reindeers and also gingerbread men!
4) The Christmas Setup at Taj Vivanta, Begumpet
A sleek, silver, cone shaped partial Christmas tree rises above the canopy of this hotel in Begumpet. The lobby features a full Christmas winter wonderland setup, complete with Christmas tree, artificial snow, The Nativity Scene and smiling snowman wearing a red top hat.
5) Christmas in the Air, GVK One Mall, Road No.1, Banjara Hills
Designed within the huge central atrium, the most visible decoration is the 25 feet tall Christmas tree with a backdrop of flying reindeer, which will floor kids with its charm and fairy lights. The mall also features a white Santa’s workshop with snowmen and elves and an automated Santa Claus that moves in tune to sounds of clapping by children and adults. Additionally the entire mall has huge candies, gift boxes, wreaths, stars and tassels hanging from the ceiling.
6) Christmas Tree and Santa’s Workshop at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Road No.6, Banjara Hills
A special tree lighting ceremony was held to herald the Christmas festivities at this star hotel in Banjara Hills, where Christmas carollers and families ushered in the festive tidings.
7) Ecofriendly Christmas Tree, The Westin Mindspace, Survey No.64, Hi-Tech City, Madhapur
This hotel features an eco friendly Christmas tree and a huge gingerbread house which will be sure to delight all Christmas lovers. The tree was launched by Santa Claus himself, who rode into the hotel in an auto rickshaw!
8) Christmas Tree with Santa’s Workshop at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center, Hitex Road, Kothaguda
Going green this year as well, aside from a regular Christmas tree, this hotel lobby features an eco friendly Christmas tree made of bamboo cylinders, and also a full sized Santa’s Workshop made of recycled material, scraps and polyfil.
