Here is our pick of the best summer workshops coming up in the next fortnight in Delhi-NCR, led by experts in their respective fields. This is certainly a not-to-miss list for children, as each workshop will give them incomparable exposure and valuable skills. 

Film making workshop with Tina Balachandran

Locality: Sohna Road, Gurgaon

Date: 21st May to 28th May 2016, 10: 30 am to 1.30 am

Age group: 10 years and above

Our kids are already very adept at visual media skills thanks to their smart phones. With this workshop they will learn what a professional film is all about and can write a film, direct and act in it and watch it with the eye of a critic afterwards. The workshop will be conducted by filmmaker Tina Balachandran, who has over 17 years of experience in conceptualizing, producing and directing television programmes and as well as over 5 years of experience training young filmmakers. Genie-in-us Expert led 3 week arts camp

Date: 30th May – 17th June; 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Age group: 6-10 year olds

Children will be introduced to a new theme through a storybook, which will get extended into art, and craft activities, even an introductory session in Hindustani classical music, that encourage the children to explore the world and the myriad complexities with the expert.

Each week will culminate with a workshop where an industry expert will take the children through a distinct art form. Week 1 -  Patua Painting by Potli, week 2 - creating muppets by Leela Designs and week 3 - art of comic strip writing by Vishwajyoti Ghosh.

Pandies Theatre Workshop

Date: 30th May – 17th June 2016, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Age group: 6 to 12 years

The 3-week theatre camp will bring street style experimental techniques where the children will learn with renowned instructors. They will write their own script under the leadership of theatre personality Diksha Lamba, and enact it as a performance for parents at the end of the 3-week camp.

Zorba Kids Festival

Locality: Ghitorni, MG Road

Date: 1st to 5th June 2016, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM 

Age group: 5 to 12 years

Here’s a chance for your children to get away from concrete, traffic and noise – and not having to leave town for that. Enrol for Zorba the Buddha’s five day happiness camp that celebrates the uniqueness in each child in the midst of tranquil gardens, reflective ponds and abundant greenery. A safe sanctuary with peacocks, ducks and waterfalls… the space is vibrant with the natural rhythm of life. Children will learn and grow through techniques like art, dance, storytelling, theatre, music, and bonding exercises.  Workshop modules include creative writing, pottery, art out of waste, treasure hunt, food art, origami, fashion walk and ‘uchchal kood’ - numerous outdoor and indoor games. All activities are designed by expert facilitators keeping in mind children’s physical, mental and spiritual well being.

This camp will support ten scholarships for underprivileged children.

Summer camp for Specially Abled Children by Vriksh

Age group: 9 years and above

This camp is a wonderful opportunity for children with special needs to get their hands dirty with pottery, move and groove to music, express themselves with gestures and movement, expend some energy with physical movement while they keep learning. Conducted by trained special needs educators, the programme includes activities like pottery, dance, drama, physical education, computer skills to maximise a child’s learning and enhance work skills, social skills and functional academic skills through a lot of fun.

The Passion Project By Bequrio

‘The Passion Project’ is a 2-week long industry interaction and internship for young adults under the expert guidance of dynamic professionals from the industry, through which our young participants work on solutions for real problems being faced by a real organisation, to create actionable ideas and solutions. This is a project-based learning opportunity that will provide the critical missing link for students to apply academic learning to real human needs and to make the knowledge gained usable in real life situations. 'The Passion Project' will be your child's first step towards the world of work and career exploration as they interact with industry experts in the fields of operations, products, marketing & entrepreneurship.

This year Bequrio is partnering with Literacy India & Indha Craft to give participants an immersive work experience in areas such as product design, fundraising and marketing campaigns.
