Bollywood celebrity Sunny Leone and her husband, Daniel Weber have adopted a 21-month-old toddler from the Latur area in Maharashtra. They revealed that they had applied for adoption 2 years back and only just got matched with this girl child!
Sunny Leone, with her colourful past, had taken Bollywood by storm right from the time she made an entrant into the Big Boss house in 2011 and thereafter with several movies as well. Part of a successful production team with her husband Daniel Weber, she is known for her bold avatar in films like films like Jism 2, Ragini MMS 2, Ek Paheli Leela and Mastizaade and as the fiery host of reality show Splitsvilla.
The news of her adopting a girl child was put forth first on Instagram by Sherlyn Chopra and later confirmed via a direct tweet from Sunny Leone and a one-on-one interview with a leading publication as well.
Sunny and Daniel revealed that it was love at first sight for them as they bonded immediately with Nisha, and decided to retain her original name. She was given Kaur as her middle name due to Sunny’s Punjabi origins (her real name is Karenjit Kaur) and the family surname of Weber.
They had only three weeks to prepare for the arrival of this special blessing in their lives, and are now making major changes in their schedule to settle into their new life as parents. Sunny and Daniel both said they appreciated the efforts taken by the orphanage from where she was adopted, and now wished to surround her with their great network of family and friends who would help her settle into her new life. The language barrier would also have to be overcome, since Nisha was used to Marathi right from her birth, but she is making steady progress and has learnt her first English word, i.e bye-bye!
A few days ago, Sunny had hinted in one of her interviews that someday she “might just walk in with a baby in her hand” and surprise everyone, and boy, she’s succeeded so well!
Given her celebrity status and past work as a porn star in the adult entertainment industry, she immediately faced a barrage of criticism and trolling online, with people questioning if she was the right role model for the child she’s adopted.
All that matters right now is she’s distanced herself from that line of work and given a safe and secure home to an orphan, making a difference in her life and giving her hope of a healthy and successful future. Ultimately, that’s what counts!
