Warm the Needy-6 Places in Bangalore Where You Can Donate Your Old Woollens

Christmas is the season of Santa, wrapped gifts and lots of goodies, but it is also the season for giving and spreading joy and cheer to the lesser privileged around us. Winter is the ideal time for donating warm clothes, sweaters and blankets. We bring a list of six places around the city, for you to donate your pre-loved winter wear. So, go ahead and spread some warmth and cheer this season.

Blankets for Chennai

There are NGO and organisations from across Bangalore, providing relief measures to the hapless citizens of Chennai. However, if you are looking to donate blankets and woollens, a group of volunteers from Bengaluru are collecting old but usable woollens, blankets, beds sheets and any other clothing that you don't use anymore. You are also most welcome to buy new ones and donate if you wish to. Items will be collected till the 10th of December. The distribution will happen on the 13th of December.

Goonj

Goonj is an NGO that recycles discarded clothes and household goods into useful products for the poor. This winter, Goonj has started its nationwide campaign Odha Do Zindagi. They are targeting collection/purchase of over a million pieces of winter wear itemsfor the needy across India. You can contribute by donating woollens, blankets, shawls, jeans, saris, trousers, bedsheets, curtains.

Recently on Diwali night, the Goonj warehouse in Delhi with stocks of warm clothes, blankets and shoes to be distributed among the needy for the winter, was gutted in a fireand the NGO is desperately in need of warm clothes and blankets

NIMHANS Mother Baby Psychiatry unit 

The Perinatal Psychiatric Service at NIMHANS, Bangalore is dedicated to helping the mother, the mother-infant, husbands and families who need treatment, support and guidance for any mental health problem related to pregnancy or child birth. You can donate your children’s old woollens and baby blankets to the babies and kids admitted in the unit. Additionally you can also donate your kids old toys, feeding bottles, sippers etc. to the unit

Share At Door Step (SADS)

Share At Doorstep provides free door-step pickup of clothes, blankets, toys etc. which are them sorted and delivered to NGOs who have asked for them. You can also donate household items, stuffed animals, appliances, unused stationary items, electronics, computers, TVs etc.
