Today, I got another request from a friend on facebook to vote her baby in a cutest baby contest. I saw pictures of all the babies participating in contest. All of them were equally cute. How can I judge any baby on barometer of cuteness. I wanted to write on this since long; but was refraining, so not to hurt feelings of any mom.
Everytime I come across such contests, they remind me of akbar birbal story, it goes like:
One day Akbar saw a lady hugging an unattractive child and calling him the most beautiful child. He was surprised and asked birbal to explain her behavior. Birbal replied that she must be the child's mother. The Emperor was not convinced. Birbal, then, called a guard and asked him to bring the most beautiful child to court next day. Next morning, the guard brought a dark child, wearing untidy clothes and with unkempt hair, to court. "This is the most beautiful child in the world, Your Majesty" , said the guard. The Emperor asked, "How can you say that he is the most beautiful child in the world?"
" I discussed my problem with my wife. According to her, our child is the most beautiful child in the world and so I brought him here," the guard replied.
My child is most beautiful. -From every mom.
I would never ask anyone to judge my baby on his cuteness. He is too little for this. I know the world is too harsh; looks and outer beauty matter here. But I will protect my child from this bitter reality, till I can. I would teach my child to build a character and acquire beautiful qualities, that would make him a beautiful individual.
As my little one slept today, I kept looking at him. I couldn't take my eyes off him. In him, I find peace, innocence, beauty and charm.
My child, you are an angel. My child, you are prettiest. Your face shines brighter than moon. Your eyes are deeper than sea. Everything about you is so magical. You are, for sure, the most beautiful child in the world. And I don't need any vote to prove the same.
"There is only one pretty child in this world and every mother has it."
