Mr. Obama, an extraordinary family person

President Barack Obama delivered his farewell speech to the nation in Chicago this Tuesday night. Undoubtedly it was so powerful, thoughtful and inspiring. I don’t have much interest in the USA’s political conditions and the recent happenings. But I am so influenced by Mr. Barack Obama that I love to follow him. This made me listen to his farewell speech many times. And the best part about his speech was his love for his family. He shared his views on many other topics like democracy, race, changes and serving people. But my favorite part was when he addressed his wife and daughters.

I have previously written how Mr. Barack Obama even being the president of the USA is an extraordinary family man. And that really makes his family special. I feel it’s necessary to quote what he said about his wife, Michelle, in his speech:

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson of the South Side, for the past 25 years you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend. You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.

In between a purely legislative speech, only Mr. Obama can elegantly put few pages of his personal life. He was in tears when he paid a touching tribute to his wife for being his best friend and a strong supporter. Being his follower, I have read how they both love and tease each other, just like a normal couple. I found both Mr. Obama and lady Michelle being honest about the ups and downs of their married life. And I can say that they have left us with a love manual of sorts. They are simply the epitome of relationship goals.

Mr. Obama’s emotional speech not only brought tears to his eyes but also made his daughter, Malia, cry. He didn’t forget to mention his daughters in his speech as he values his kids so much. Although his second daughter, Sasha, couldn’t attend her father’s last public speech. Sasha had to stay back in Washington, DC to appear for her exam on Wednesday morning. Like any other ordinary family, their daughter’s exam was the most important things for them. And that’s we common people are going to miss about this family. It’s very evident that politics is just one thing of their lives and they always put their family first. Mr. Obama’s speech made him tender and also made so many fathers sentimental who were listening to him.

Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion. You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.

Once addressing his staff, Mr. Obama said that when he would be taking his last breath, he would not be thinking about the politics or power. Rather he would like to think about the moments when he walked his little daughter to the playground and saw sunset there holding her hand. He suggested his staff to play equal roles in parenting kids because at the end of the day family is the only thing that matters. I feel Mr. Obama is really a role model for all the parents out there. His life so far is such an inspiration. I wish him lots of happiness ahead!
