Let me teach you a little more before you are not little anymore!

People often say that a girl's career is finished once she has a child. Others say that children of working mothers are ignored. Housewives envy working mothers. Working mothers envy kids of full-time mothers. Some girls delay motherhood thinking it to be a deterrent to their career whereas celebrity wives like Mira Rajput want to have kids early in life to be able to focus on career later.

Different people... different voices. What choice is to be made rests on us as mothers. Whatever choice you make make sure you raise better kids. Raise better boys and raise better girls. I know the definition of better would be different for different people but my intent is clear. We as mothers can determine the direction of our children. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that "Men are what their mothers made them". Well I would like to add that both men and women are what their mothers made them.

Though there are safety concerns that can dictate some decisions, try as often as possible to make the same decisions for both your sons and your daughters.

Here are some of the tips you can look forward to as your little miracle grows:

  • Don't teach gendered roles - Mom and dad both do all the chores, household activities being no exception.
  • Teach the importance of emotions, empathy, respect and family - Rules don't differ for girls and boys.
  • Gadgets cannot replace love - The more we interact with our kids the more they learn. No item on earth can replace mother's love.
  • Compliment kids but don't forget constructive criticism.
  • Value fears (especially for boys) and value bravery (especially for girls).
  • Don't rush them into growing up - Let the child in them live forever.
  • I know I am not an expert in the field but as a responsible mother I would summarise by saying; "Raise boys who respect women & Raise girls who know how to earn the respect".
