We ladies are always fearing about our weight and looks. When pregnancy arrives into our lives, we live in two worlds of being happy about it and being worried about the weight gain and the changes the body will experience during and after it.
It happens with most of us and it happened with me too. I was always a thin girl. It had never even occurred to me that I would gain weight and my body will change its shape because of pregnancy because I was so happy to know that my body was now creating a new life. I never feared gaining weight as I had already tried gaining it and nothing worked for me. I actually felt happy when people told me that now I will gain weight.
When I reached my four months of pregnancy, I was then told to gain weight by my doctor. I was told I had to eat to prepare my body to ensure proper weight gain of the growing baby and eat for the baby as well. Seriously I tried everything, I ate a lot but still didn't gain more than half a kg that month. My metabolism has always been too fast. My doctor told me to start drinking a nutritional supplement to fulfill all the lacking nutrients my body would need. It is scientifically designed to fulfill the increased demands of nutrition in pregnancy. Then, from my 6th month onward, I started to gain weight. I was happy and so was the doctor - as finally, I was on track. I used it till I was feeding my baby and it was my companion for almost a year.
Gaining weight was never a problem for me but when your hormones start having fun, your brain and body start behaving differently. I started noticing that my body was growing and I couldn’t do anything about it. I started worrying about will this extra flab go or not after delivery. I felt heavy and had gained a good amount of weight till my last month.
After having delivered my beautiful baby boy, my mother-in-law told me to calm down and explained to me, how the body will go back to normal after a few months. She told me that, “It took 9 months for your body to turn like this, at least give it a year to be back to normal. Yes, there will be few changes, don't expect the old form – but again, it will not be like the way you are now and stop taking comments from anybody to your heart.” That was, in my opinion, the best advice I could have got at that time.
First of all, breastfeeding helped me lose my pregnancy fat. And daily massage for a few months helped my tummy to reduce a lot. My body was back to normal within 8-9 months except for the tummy. I was again thin but the flab from my tummy was the last one to leave me. It still comes back sometimes but when I keep myself active it doesn't last long.
Everyone has a different body type and pregnancy works differently for everyone. You may lose weight or you may not but don't forget that you will always be the most beautiful woman in your child's life.
