“Why have you become so careless about looks nowadays?” complained my hubby.
My reason was simple. “After a kid and another one in waiting, who do I have to impress?”
“Why, do you get ready only for others? Don’t you yourself feel good about it?”
“This argument is endless and I have hundreds of chores to do.” I snapped and moved out of the room.
In the bathroom, I looked at myself in the mirror. My skin was still soft and tight but there were a few dark spots and little acne. My hands felt a little rough due to winters and my own negligence. I quickly took the body lotion from the cupboard and applied on my hands. Hands looked soft again. There were a few cracks on my heels. Need to get a pedicure. I will definitely go tomorrow. I am still young and beautiful, if only I could give just 10 minutes every day to take care of the body. From tomorrow, I will and I went to sleep.
Next day came and went. And then another and another but the pedicure never happened. Finally, it was time for my nephew’s thread ceremony. If I don’t go now, I never will. And I didn’t miss this opportunity to go to the parlour. Pedicure checked, hair cut checked, cleansing and toning checked. I felt extremely relieved and happy. Hubby was right. I had to do it for myself.
I am not a make-up kind of a girl. Was always a tomboy in school! After marriage, I would usually do some very light make-up that too only on occasions. I believe beauty lies in simplicity. But then especially after kids we women often ignore even basic stuff like taking care of the skin and hair. It had been ages since I tried any new hairstyle. Hair tied behind in a ponytail was always it. But this time was different. My husband’s cousin had got married a few months back. He and his wife, my latest sister-in-law, had also come down for the family function. She has done a course in make-up. I asked her to suggest me a hairstyle keeping in mind that I had a small kid who could pull my hair. She was very sweet and willingly did my make-up and hair and also gave me a crash course in same. Not something overdo but a very light touch and Viola!! I could not believe my eyes when I looked in the mirror. I had not looked so beautiful in a while now.
When I went to the venue, many ladies asked me how come I was glowing so much. Some even teased, is it the make-up or the baby? Which parlour did you go to? I could not stop smiling.
But the best part of the evening was when hubby said, “You look very beautiful tonight!!”
And I realized that I have to take care of myself. I asked my sister-in-law for her suggestion& she promptly recommended Lotus Herbals YouthRx crème. I wasn’t too sure& tried to check it out first. When I researched about it & got to know that it is completely natural and preservatives free, I thought it matches my life’s philosophy of simplicity. And from then onward, there has been no looking back.
My husband’s complaints have turned into compliments now and I can’t be happier with the new ME!
