Little One Saying No To Milk? Try These Easiest Flavoured Milk Recipes!

It was so very easy for my mother. She had three children (including me) and all of us loved drinking milk. We would drink it in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, at night and whenever else in between. It seemed as if we call it a meal only when it is accompanied by a big glass of milk. The best part - we loved milk as is, nothing to add, nothing to subtract.

I would say only a few lucky mothers have what my mom had. Because now that I am a mother myself, I understand that making a kid drink milk ain’t easy at all. There are elaborate stories to be told, promises to be made, screams to be bored and yet the glass of milk remains filled up. I completely fail to understand how milk that I have always found so flavourful can taste flavourless to my daughter.

And hence I started my quest of making milk appetizing for my daughter. So when desperate times call for desperate measures, these are my top 5 flavoured milk go to recipes that I use!

Caramel Milk

You Will Need

1 cup milk

2 tablespoon sugar

½ cup water

In a saucepan, combine sugar and just ¼ cup of water. Place it on high heat and keep cooking till the sugar starts caramelizing. You will know that the sugar has caramelized when it the solution will turn deep brown in colour. Turn of the heat and quickly add remaining water and milk in the pan. Whisk well. Caramel milk tastes best when served chilled.

Orange Cream Milk

You Will Need

1 cup milk

Zest of 1 orange

2 tablespoon sugar

¼ cup water

Combine zest, sugar and water in a saucepan. Turn the gas to medium heat. When the syrup starts simmering, turn the gas to lowest heat. Cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes. The total syrup should get reduced by one third. Strain the syrup through a mesh strainer. Blend the strained syrup with milk in a blender and enjoy.

Peppermint Milk

You Will Need

1 cup milk

2 tablespoon sugar

1 branch of mint

Rinse off mint well under water. Pour milk into a saucepan and add mint branch to it. Make sure the branch is immersed in milk. Put the saucepan on medium heat and wait for it to come to boil. When it starts boiling, add sugar and stir it in completely. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for about half an hour. Strain the milk through a milk strainer and serve.

Peanut Butter Milk

You Will Need

1 cup milk

2 tablespoon sugar

1 ½ tablespoon smooth peanut butter

Place milk, sugar and peanut butter in a blender and blend until smooth. This milk tastes equally well whether served warm or chilled.

Mocha Milk

You Will Need

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon sugar

2 tablespoon chocolate chips

1 teaspoon instant coffee

Add everything in a saucepan on low heat and heat up only till everything is well incorporated. There is no need to bring the milk to a boil. Enjoy warm with marshmallows or cold with ice cubes.
