From Shake-y childhood memories to Womanhood

HOW WONDERFUL WERE THOSE DAYS OF GAY ABANDON AND OF NO CONCEPT OF CALORIES IN WHAT WE CONSUMED!

HOW MISSED ARE THOSE DAYS WHEN A GLASS FULL OF SHAKES WERE THE ULTIMATE IN LUXURY ONE COULD AFFORD!

HOW THE FEELINGS OF THAT GOODNESS, THE VISUALS OF GLASS FULL OF WHITE LIQUID AND THE SOUNDS OF A MIXER CHURNING ICE, MILK AND OUR FAVOURITE FRUITS (FOR ME IT WAS THE MANGO, BANANA AND SAPOTA OR CHEEKU) STILL LINGERS ON!

Last fortnight, I got to know about NESTLÉ a+ SLIM Milk: A low fat Variant. With an inherent inclination towards “KEEP FIT, LOOK GOOD”, the product and the theme struck an immediate chord with me.

I have always been healthy and fit, all thanks to my genes and my conscious attitude towards health and fitness. Being in my post Forties, I was anyhow looking for an alternative milk option. An option that could help me manage my cravings for the shakes that I relished as a child and which by virtue of age, stress, work pressures, etc has become a luxury and an occasional indulgence. NESTLÉ a+ SLIM Milk seemed to be a perfect fit to relive the joyous, shake – laden memories once again and that too guilt free!

Milk has been a favourite all along but the hidden fats made me wary about the varied health effects. The various low fat options robbed the drink of the taste and flavours went for a toss.

I had to actually consume just a few sips of shakes- made with fat laden milk and satisfy my cravings for shakes. Though I don’t believe that all fat is bad fat but keeping in mind my averagely active lifestyle , I didn’t want to let the fat accumulate around my waist area. One simple reason being all the noise around the BMI and waist – to- hip ratio as an indicator of health issues.

For all those who would be keen to know more, waist-to-hip ratio is called WHR and it indicates fat storage in the body. For woman , it need to be <0.8 (WHO2008). Here I was offered a choice that has 0.2% fat with goodness of calcium and protein intact , UHT treated and a winner through 61 quality checks.

Thinking Toned milk , think again...Simply put ,2 glasses (250 ml each day) toned milk that has 3%fat consumed over a month contains the calories of 44 Samosas where 1 Samosa =200Kcals (ICMR2011).

NESTLÉ a+ SLIM Milk has the same goodness of regular milk with 95% less fat but be reasonable enough to couple up with taking the stairs, jogging and cycling to meet your fitness goals head – on.

The cycle of life is continuous Transformation. The milk I used to get my shakes in childhood is not going to hold ground today. keeping my age and body in mind , I am extremely open to the idea of something that has lesser fat but doesn’t compromise on the levels of other nutrients..and going by the product info NESTLÉ a+ SLIM Milk seems to be an ideal fit...A choice that seemed to help me with my fitness goals and allows me the liberty of savouring my yum shakes! It won’t be an exaggeration to say that for some it could be a choice that’ will help Race against one’s Unfit Past when coupled with a balanced diet, some exercise and few modifications in the calorie – intake.

I personally opine that to get new, effective results, we need to move from a paradigm of “SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST” to the one like “SURVIVAL OF THE WISEST“. We need to make new choices, be more open to various options and be flexible enough to incorporate new means and ways to reach levels of optimum health and vitality.

It has been tested and researched now that there are food that accelerate aging and entropy and others that revitalize and nurture… going by this simple study be wise to choose and choose right.!!!
