Vasanthi visited her mother after a month's time. They had nice time along with Vasanthi's 3 year old son Suraj. Vasanthi and her mother were chatting generally.
'So Vasanthi... hows the new care taker of Suraj?'
Vasanthi was working in a private company. She had appointed Lakshmi as the new care taker to take care of him post school until Vasanthi returned in the evening.
'hmm.. yeah.. she is taking very good care. Suraj is also comfortable with her. But...'
'oh, she is very strict in the evening time. Once the clock's hand moves to seven, she becomes high alerted. She will keep on looking at the time to ensure that it was indeed less than seven thirty. At seven thirty sharp, she lifts her bag and flies away to her home. If I press, she compains that she too has a family back at home'
'oh... but what if you come late?'
'yeah... thats what.. she will show faces at me.. she is complaining that I better come home before 7:30 PM. dont know what to do with her'
'why, you are not able to come is it?'
'no amma.. am not a train to be as punctual as that. there is always heavy traffic... and sometimes my boss may demand some work.. or there may be some urgent work or meeting... that may delay my starting from office.. she seems not to be understanding'
'yeah... tough only...'
then they spoke about a lot of things. had sumptuous dinner and returned home.
'Vasanthi... can you please stay back and finish this work' asked Murugan, Vasanthi's manager. Vasanthi hesitated and tried to protest
'sirr... it is getting late sir... can I please do it tomorrow first in the morning'
'no Vasanthi.. this is very urgent.. this invoice should go out in tomorrow's 6o clock courier service. do you think you can come at 5 to finish this one?'
Vasanthi swallowed her anxiety; but couldnt do anything. Half mindedly she sat back. She kept an eye on the clock. she could not find any way to get out of the office soon.
Murugan got irritated. He openly cribbed to himself which was very audible to Vasanthi.
'what to do with these ladies...especially this Vasanthi. she is very strict in the evening time. Once the clock's hand moves to six, she becomes high alerted. She will keep on looking at the time to ensure that it was indeed less than six thirty. At six thirty sharp, she lifts her bag and flies away to her home. If I press, she compains that she too has a family back at home...' hmmm!!!
