#Momspiration - Threesome wholesome, inspiring mothers

A small interaction with an acquaintance or a longstanding friendship may inspire you to bring about a turning point in your life. It is hard in today's scenario to find someone who can take out some time for you. There are three mothers who continue to inspire me even today with their beliefs, deeds and their time that they gave for me. They are like the shower of rain in the times of drought in my life.

1. Geeta Madhuri - She is a friend and a guru. In the very first instance, we struck a chord of friendship. We were colleagues and neighbours too. Geeta had to move to another city when she got a School Assistant's post in a Government school around ten years ago. She is a single mother who never felt guilty about her decision. She withstood the repercussions of separation and divorce. She is the one who has inspired me to be organised and dedicated. In fact, even today, most of my work at home and school is a reflection of Geeta's style. I became a mother in her presence. She taught me most of things that a mother should do for a newborn. She took great care in raising her own daughter with confidence who has now finished her studies. When my career goals were affecting my children's growth, she has helped me to stop and think on those goals and take a decision as a mother of two. Geeta is an example of courage, confidence and a woman who knows what her priorities are.

2. Beena - Beena, whose name rhymes with mine, was also a colleague for a very short time. She is a mariculturist but took to teaching for some time. It's like we met with a purpose and then she parted. The moments spent with her will always be cherished in my life. We share the same tastes, beliefs and interests. During the few months that we worked together, she has told me many stories of the Sea. Beena is a caring mother who takes great interest in her son's growth and academic achievements. As a matter of fact, I don't much bother about my children's academic achievements. When children excel in academics, they gain confidence. That's when I strongly decided to work on this area. She believes in positive parenting and living consciously. She refrains from any talk that is of no use. She has taught me how not to get too emotional with relationships and has helped me take a right decision several times. She draws inspiration from her mother who again is a woman of great self-esteem. Indirectly, I learnt from her mother too. Beena is a pro-active mother and an advocate of positive parenting.

3. Pannaga Murthy - Pannaga is uncompromising when it comes to self respect; whether it is at home or at work. She is a mother of a son and some one who knows a great deal about child psychology. We have short, mini interactions every day or two. She is a colleague but I can't say we are friends. Just a glance at me and she knows that something is wrong with me. Pannaga counsels me in every aspect of my life. Whatever problem I take to her, she has an answer. She teaches me when not to endure. I have learnt from her how to be assertive in life. She tells me, her grandmother once said, "If you go against the waves, you will fall. Bend and the waves will pass over you and you will not be affected." She takes great care in nurturing her son's interests. This is inspiring. In fact, she inspires in many ways. She is the one who very well knows how to set priorities. To me, Pannaga is like a rock whom I can rely on when I need the light.

These three mothers have had profound influence on my life. I thank them for being a part of my journey. They have, in a way, inspired me to respect my individuality as a mother and a woman.
